Vintage photography defined
The term ’vintage photography’ defines the kind of photography that was captured during the 19th and early 20th centuries. In order for a photograph from this era to be considered vintage, the negative needs to have been developed within five years of the photo being taken. Scandinavia, specifically Sweden, was during this time at the frontier of vintage photography. Famous Swedish photographers were, to name a few, Oscar Rejlander, Johannes Jaeger and Henry B. Goodwin.
Picture This vintage photo prints are part of a larger analog collection that consists of approximately 50 000 images, mostly from Sweden and Norway. The collection also consists of a large number of photo books and magazines from the time before 1880 and by some of the world’s most famous photographers, including Henry Fox Tallbot, the photography pioneer who invented the salted paper and calotype processes.
