Terence Donovan

Terence Donovan was a British photographer and film director, well-known for his black-and-white film photography. His interest in the art form came already at the age of 11 and by 15, he had started working as a photographer’s assistant. Donovan was famous for his fashion photography, having captured covers of models such as Twiggy and Cindy Crawford, for Vogue, Elle and Harper’s Bazaar back in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. He is described as one of the great photographers who brought fashion magazines a new visual language by placing his photography subjects in gritty areas all around London.

In addition to his photography, Donovan worked with campaigns and commercials for which he received nominations due to his great work. In 2013, a collection of Donovan’s fashion photography work was published by contributors from Vogue, as a homage for his influential work in the field.
