Jeremie Daclin - Tokyo - Japan, 2003

"This is one of my 2 most famous pictures, shot in 2003 in Tokyo, with Jeremie Daclin. We were staying in this hotel providing a bird-eye view of this strange and empty parking lot. I had to borrow a 50mm lens from another photographer because it was working with my 35mm lens. And it could only work from the 17th floor. This image means a lot to me because it was the first one that got strong recognition, which confirmed that I chose the right path for my skateboarding photography, which was meant to be artistic, timeless, and universal… The magazines didn’t want to publish my pictures, but the audience was asking for more. I and I wanted to keep on going anyway, or should I say ‘keep on pushing’." - Fred Mortagne
