Felipe Barbugiani - Boneless - Brasilia, Brazil, 2017

"I dreamt for many many years of going to the capital of Brazil one day. Brasilia had been entirely designed by Oscar Niemeyer in the 1960s. In the end, I had to be patient for over a decade after first encountering Niemeyer’s work in France. So it took 12 years of waiting, to finally be able to go there for only 24 hours. Frustration was at its highest level. But that was better than nothing, so I made sure to optimize time as much as possible. Maybe a little too much. Roaming the streets at night, quickly proved to be too much intimidating. Through the skateboarding community, I got in touch with a skateboarder that had style. That was my only requirement.
Brasilia brought me a strange and contradictory feeling. I loved the architecture but did not enjoy the city itself so much. I would never want to live there. After all, it’s a federal capital, without much soul."
