"The first time I met Arto Saari, a skateboarder from Finland, he was 16 and didn’t speak English, but was a true champion already. This was in 1998. He became an iconic skateboarder and we filmed and shot a lot together over the years. I was with him the day he borrowed a photo camera and started playing with it. He then became a very good photographer, and he now lives in Hawaï. For that reason, I rarely see him, but he came to my hometown in Lyon in 2018 on a skate trip with his sponsor Flip Skateboards. It was a cool feeling to shoot a new skate picture with him, 20 years after we first met. Amazingly, we can keep on skateboarding after being 40, and maintain such a strong worldwide community of skateboarders." - Fred Mortagne
