Lennart Nilsson The Salvage of Vasa, Stockholm, Monday, 24 April 1961
The Swedish navy’s pride and joy, the majestic warship Vasa, capsized and sank on its maiden voyage in 1628, only minutes after leaving the dock.
On April 24th, 1966, 333 years after the disaster, the first parts of the sunken ship broke the surface after a historic and successful salvage of the largely intact and preserved hull. Of course, Nilsson was one of the photographers ready to caption the historic event.
The right man at the right place at the right time has never been more accurate.
The poster is printed on Galerie Art Matt, 200g, a high-coated matt paper with non-reflective surface and optimal image reproduction, with FSC-certification.
