Terje Abusdal

Terje Abusdal is a Norwegian photographer with the calibrated skill of hovering just in the middle of fact and fiction with his art. Everything from the subject, setting, lighting, and colouring are all almost paranormal in their dramatic character but are still very human in their depiction of identity and belonging.

He cut his teeth at KMD Art Academy in Bergen, La Cambre in Brussels and the Danish School of Journalism. His final assignment at the latter resulted in his project Slash and Burn, which won the Leica Oskar Barnack Award and the Nordic Dummy Award. His latest publication, Hope Blinds Reason, was the winner of Norway’s Most Beautiful Book in 2020. Terje has had a number of exhibitions nationally and internationally, including Bergen Kunsthall, Henie Onstad Kunstsenter and Mattatoio di Roma.

Based: Oslo, Norway.
